White chrysanthemums contrast with pink and red carnations, bringing light and richer colour tones together in the funeral arrangement. Gypsophila forms a cloud of tiny white flowers on finely branched stems and, alongside the greenery, complements the main blooms. Carnations can be large-flowered or spray varieties; spray varieties carry several smaller flowers on one stem. Chrysanthemums are among the few cut flowers that are not particularly sensitive to ethylene, so nearby ripening fruit does not bother them.
