Nové Heřminovy lies on the Opava River. The village is about 6 km northeast of Bruntál. It has around 340 residents.

The first written record of the village dates from 1406 and appears in the land registers of Krnov. To the north, the Ptačí hora National Natural Monument protects original stands of Jeseníky larch. A concrete bridge over the Opava, built between the two world wars, is still preserved in the village.
